WILLIAM THOMAS JOHNSON, 81



WARREN -- Services will be at noon Thursday at York Avenue Church of God for William Thomas Johnson, 81, of 1421 Fourth St. S.W., who died Friday in St. Joseph Medical Center.
Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 4, 1919, in Henning, Tenn., a son of Leroy and Geneva Lanier Johnson.
He retired in 1978 after working 32 years at Republic Steel Corp., where he was a supervisor. He was educated in the Cairo, Ill., school system.
He was an Army veteran and served with the 84th Signal Heavy Construction Battalion.
A member of the church, he was a former deacon, trustee and usher, and was president of its senior citizens and men's organizations.
Besides his wife, the former Mary Ann Siler, whom he married June 26, 1953, he leaves a son, William Siler of Columbus; a daughter, Diana B. McBride of Cortland; a brother, Leroy, and a sister, Jennifer Johnson, both of Henning; a niece, Jacqueline Bryant-Dawkins of Warren, whom he reared; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Elzy and Charles M., and a grandson, are deceased.
Friends may call one hour before services in the church. Arrangements are by Sibley-Murray Funeral Home, Warren.
