Sharon Tube president to retire

SHARON, Pa. -- Sharon Tube Co.'s president and chief executive will retire Jan. 1. Lee Hooper made the announcement at the annual shareholders meeting.
Dr. Maureen O'Driscoll-Levy, board chairwoman, said William Perrine, chief operating officer, will be elected president, effective Jan. 1.
Perrine's duties will be handled by Edward Palko, general superintendent of operations, who will be named vice president-operations.
Hooper will remain on the board and will serve as a consultant.
O'Driscoll-Levy cited Hooper for his numerous accomplishments during his tenure, including:
UTransforming Sharon Tube' s mechanical tubing business from a small niche player to a major player in the marketplace.
UImplementing national quality certifications for its products, spearheading computer technology initiatives.
UProviding the company's pipe products with a full range of sizes to ship to customers.
UBeing recognized as a leader in the community, county and state.
