OWEN A. CALDWELL, 85



WARREN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Friendship Baptist Church for Owen A. Caldwell, 85, of 149 Fourth St. S.W., who died of a heart attack Thursday evening in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Caldwell was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Elba, Ala., a son of Allen T. and Mary Stoudimire Caldwell, and came to the area 57 years ago from Dothan, Ala.
He was a stocker for Republic Steel for 34 years and retired in 1978.
He was a member of the church, where he served as a deacon for 57 years, and was a member of Eastern Ohio Baptist Association and was vice president of the E.O.B.A. Laymen. He also was a member and master mason of Ancient Masonic Lodge 24 and United Steelworkers of America Local 1375.
Besides his wife, the former Louise Smith, whom he married Sept. 19, 1937, he leaves a son, Howard of Warren; three daughters, Grace E. Moore, Maggie D. Raimey and Elouise Caldwell, all of Warren; a brother, Patrick of Dothan; 29 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Florene Hopson and Thelma L. Moore; five brothers, John, Herbert Sr., Richard, Howard and James; and four sisters, Bessie Whitehurst, Laurene Caldwell, Mary V. Thomas and Catherine Grevious, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the church.
