CORTLAND -- Private services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Crown Hill Burial Park, Vienna, for Leroy C. Barnes, 77, of 3140 Bazetta Road, who died Monday morning in Cleveland Clinic of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Mr. Barnes was born May 14, 1923, in Warren, a son of Roscoe and Anna Dyson Barnes, and was a lifelong area resident.
He worked for Copperweld Steel for more than 42 years and retired in 1983. He was a World War II Army paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He received the Purple Heart and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Besides his wife, the former Elizabeth Williams, whom he married Nov. 17, 1954, he leaves a son, George of Cortland; a daughter, Patricia Elliott of Cortland; and five grandchildren.
A brother, George, and a sister, Grace Zumerling, are deceased.
There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2101 Front St., Suite 110, Cuyahoga Falls. Arrangements are by Hall Funeral Home, Warren.
