CANFIELD TOWNSHIP Trustees enact zoning rules on signs, parking spaces

CANFIELD -- Township trustees have enacted zoning regulations about entrance signs identifying residential developments.
Among other things, the regulations say the signs must be approved by the township zoning commission, landscaped and well-maintained, and not more than 6 feet in height.
Trustees also clarified parking-space requirements for various types of retail establishments.
All become effective in 30 days.
Other business: Zoning Inspector Dave Morrison said his department has issued permits for 18 single-family housing starts this year, about the same number as were issued by this time in each of the last five years.
Morrison reminded trustees that he had provided them with information about planned-unit developments, including copies of other townships' regulations.
Trustee William Weaver said he thinks Canfield Township needs some planned-unit developments for condominiums.
Trustees set their May 14 meeting for Fire Station No. 2 at 5007 Messerly Road because firefighters have asked trustees to improve that station's kitchen to accommodate increased hours of staffing. The meeting will be at 7:30 p.m.
