PREP ROUNDUP Satterlee, Adair spark Ursuline's 21-2 romp



Erin Satterlee had five hits and six RBIs, while Scott Adair pitched a three-hitter and had four RBIs.
STRUTHERS -- The Ursuline High baseball team highlighted play Sunday in the Ohio Parochial Tournament by defeating Kennedy Christian 21-2 at Cene Park.
The Irish recorded 17 hits in the five-inning game, which they broke open by scoring nine runs in the fourth.
Erin Satterlee led Ursuline's offensive attack by going 5-for-5, including a triple, and driving in six runs.
Pitcher Scott Adair earned the victory, limiting Kennedy Christian to just three hits and single runs in the first and fourth innings. He helped himself by driving in four runs.
Jim Hicks took the loss for Kennedy Christian.
Falling short: Cardinal Mooney lost to Toledo St. John's 10-8.
Mooney rallied from a six-run deficit to get within 9-8 by scoring five runs in the fifth inning, but it go no closer.
The Cardinals also lost 10-8 to Cleveland St. Ignatius in a game played Saturday.
St. Ignatius broke a 7-7 tie by scoring three runs in the top of the eighth inning, and the Cardinals could muster just one in the bottom half.
In other games played Sunday, St. Ignatius defeated Akron Hoban 3-2 and Padua defeated Walsh 8-3.
Softball: ASHLAND -- Boardman High returned to familiar territory over the weekend, losing two games in the Wendy's Classic to Gulliver Prep (Miami, Fla.) 7-1 and Carl Sandburg (Orland Park, Ill.) 4-1 at Brookside Park.
On the same field in which they played the 2000 Division I state championship, the Spartans (11-3) fell victim to teams with a combined record of 41-3.
Gulliver Prep pitcher Alexis Crest limited Boardman to just three hits in the first game. The Spartans scored their only run in the first inning, on an RBI by Gina Rango. Pitcher Marissa Bartholomew (7-2) took the loss.
Boardman was limited to five singles in the second game by Carl Sandburg pitcher Nikki Netzel. Bartholomew drove in the lone run in the fourth inning.
Pitcher Jennifer Pancake (4-1) took the loss.
