Osteoporosis lecture
SHARON, Pa. -- Dr. Eva Toth, an endocrinologist, will discuss the impact of osteoporosis on women and its diagnosis, treatment and prevention, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Sharon Country Club. The lecture is sponsored by UPMC Horizon and Magee-Women's Hospital as part of the Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon's Health Horizons for Women lecture series. Health screenings
YOUNGSTOWN -- Free heel screenings to detect osteoporosis will be provided at Rite-Aid Pharmacy in Cornersburg, 3683 S. Meridian Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. The safe, quick examinations, aimed at early detection of osteoporosis, will be offered to people who are at least 40 years old by Community Medical Corporation's Osteoporosis Evaluation Center in conjunction with Rite-Aid Pharmacy. Results will be given at the time of examination.
Cancer project kicks off
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Stay Beautiful -- Stay Alive," a project to reach women in minority beauty salons and educate them on early detection of breast and cervical cancer, will kick off with a tea reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Weller Gallery Room at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Way.
