BESSEMER, Pa. -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bessemer Presbyterian Church for Betty J. VanTassel, 73, of 509 W. Poland Ave., who died Sunday in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Mrs. VanTassel was born Nov. 21, 1927, in New Castle, a daughter of Arthur and Gladys Kirkwood Stivans.
A homemaker, she was a member of the church where she had taught Sunday school and been a deacon. She also was a member of the Bessemer Women's Club.
Besides her husband, Harry K., whom she married Nov. 4, 1950, she leaves two daughters, Susan McConnell of Poland, and Bonnie Mars of Mount Jackson; a son, Arthur of Bessemer; a sister, Sally Farrington of New Castle; and six grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home, Bessemer.
