AWARDS Marcus Garvey Institute plans dinner



WARREN -- The Marcus Garvey Institute of Awareness, in conjunction with the United States Tennis Association/National Junior Tennis League of Warren, will sponsor the third biannual Black History Observance from 6 to 9 p.m. May 19 at Warren Western Reserve Junior High School, 200 Loveless Ave., S.W., Warren.
The Fredrick Douglas-Marcus Garvey Lifetime Leadership Awards will be presented to the Rev. Nolen Brown, James Pugh, the Rev. Alton L. Merrell, Ronald Simmons, the Rev. Grady Williams, Joe Williams, Clifford Johnson, the Rev. David Howard Sr., W. Doug Franklin, the Rev. Ronald Fowlis, Atty. Stanley Elkins and the Rev. J.B. Jenkins.
Students who will receive the Marcus Garvey-Fredrick Douglas Youth Leadership Awards are Obafemi A. Brown II, Kent State University; Peter Hornbuckle, Hiram College; and Vanness Provitt, Ohio State University.
