YOUNGSTOWN -- Seven area pupils will be honored this summer at The Scholastic Art & amp; Writing Awards National Ceremony in Washington, D.C. Winners of the Gold Award are Melynda Gilmore, Howland High, and Danielle Stull, Niles McKinley High. Silver Award winners are Lindsay Sell, Boardman High; Lorraine Baer, Howland Middle; Blaine Crawford, West Branch Junior High; and Danielle Stull, Niles McKinley. American Visions Award winner is Caleb Menzies, Boardman High. They were among nearly 800 seventh- through 12-grade students from 86 schools throughout Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana and Ashtabula counties who competed for regional awards in February. Seventy-nine regional finalists were sent to New York for the national contest. The awards program was founded in 1927 by Scholastic Inc. to recognize young artists.
