TRANSFER, PA. Animal rescue group seeks donations

The group saved 396 dogs and 12 cats destined to be put to death last year.
TRANSFER, Pa. -- A local nonprofit animal support group is expanding its effort to rescue dogs and cats from area animal shelters.
"Rover's Rescue Resort" is the name chosen by Club Pet Adoption Inc. for the campaign to raise more than $35,000 to erect a building to house 40 dogs.
The club gives dogs and cats another chance at life, visiting local shelters to rescue animals scheduled to be destroyed. The goal is to provide the animals with a loving environment as well as food, shelter and veterinary care.
The organization placed 396 dogs and 12 cats last year, all of them spayed or neutered before going to their new homes.
Raising money: "Rover's Rescue Resort" will kick off with a fund-raiser and private luncheon Saturday at the Outback Steak House adjacent to the Eastwood Mall in Niles.
The event will also feature a Chinese auction with donated items from a wide variety of businesses in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
All proceeds will go to the building fund.
To purchase tickets, call Dianna Estman at (724) 962-0877.
Club Pet Adoption is located at Club Pet Boarding Kennels, a private boarding kennel on Schaller Road.
The business fronted the money needed to erect the building shell for Rover's Rescue Resort but the structure lacks a furnace, internal dog runs and other amenities.
Raising $35,000 would cover those costs and reimburse the boarding kennel for the price of the building.
