Spring cleanup in Weathersfield

MINERAL RIDGE-- Weathersfield Township's annual spring cleanup will resume after a one-year hiatus, township trustees said.
The cleanup will run next Sunday through May 5. The annual event was not conducted last year because bids for the cleanup came in too high.
Wolford's Refuse and Recycling, McDonald, was awarded the contract for the cleanup with a bid of $17,000, township trustee chairman Fred Bobovnyk said.
Residents are asked to place all of their spring cleanup items at the curb by 6 p.m. next Sunday to allow Wolford the entire week to pick them up, Bobovnyk said.
Items that will not be accepted:
UConstruction or building materials.
UTree limbs or shrubbery.
UTires.
UGarbage.
UPaints or solvents.
UAppliances that contain Freon or contained Freon, unless they bear a tag indicating that the Freon had been removed by a licensed technician.
Bobovnyk said the township will have a separate cleanup for old tires later in the year.
Township Administrator David Pugh recently explained that the township offers the service of picking up tree limbs for residents if they are bundled, or crews can come out and use a grinder on them if residents contact the township and request the service.
