KINSMAN -- Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District has established a recycling drop-off site at the township garage, 6380 state Route 87.
The site is open seven days a week during daylight hours.
Materials to be accepted are glass bottles and jars of all colors; aluminum cans and foil; steel food cans; plastics with a No. 1 or No. 2 symbol on or near the bottom; and newspapers.
All materials should be clean and plastic lids should be removed and discarded. Paper should be kept separate and dry.
The drop-off site is sponsored by the solid waste management district, township trustees and Trumbull County commissioners.

Aviation display
NILES -- Experimental Aircraft Association, Niles Chapter 117 and Austintown Chapter 531, will offer an aviation exhibit Saturday and April 29 at Eastwood Mall. The event will feature displays of recreational flying, including parachutes, sailplanes and conventional aircraft. Several planes that will be exhibited don't require a commercial pilot's license to fly.
Many planes that are under construction at the homes of EAA members also will be displayed and there will be a raffle for introductory flight lessons.
Mosque expansion
YOUNGSTOWN -- A groundbreaking ceremony will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday for an expansion of the Islamic Society of Greater Youngstown's mosque at 535 Harmon Ave. Mayor George McKelvey is scheduled to attend.
Natural award
YOUNGSTOWN -- Carol Vigorito of Girard, an assistant naturalist at Mill Creek Park's Ford Nature Education Center since 1997, has received the outstanding seasonal or part-time interpreter award from the National Association for Interpretation's Great Lakes Region. Vigorito has been involved in presenting programs to school and summer camp groups, coordinating special events and managing the center's gift shop. The association consists of naturalists, historians, tour guides, educators and others working at sites, such as museums, parks, zoos and historical buildings.
Alliance speaker
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. May 7 at St. John Russian Orthodox Church Hall, 301 Struthers-Liberty Road, Campbell. The speaker will be Dr. Saul Friedman, professor of history and chairman of the Judaic/Holocaust Studies Program at Youngstown State University. The cost is $11 for members and $15 for nonmembers. Reservations are required by May 3 and must be mailed to Ohio Cultural Alliance, P.O. Box 561, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
UN discussion
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown chapter of the United Nations Association will be host for a panel discussion and dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday in the YSU International Studies Center at Phelps Street and Lincoln Avenue.
The all-African panel will discuss Issues in Contemporary Africa. The program is free and will start at 7 p.m. Reservations are required for the dinner, which costs $15.
Reservations are due by Monday and can be made by calling the center.
