MERCER BOROUGH Candidates



Three candidates are running for the Republican nomination for the part-time post of borough mayor:
KENNETH R. VERNON
AGE: 55.
HOME: 225 S. Otter St.
EMPLOYMENT: Owner of Vernon's Industrial/Residential Products.
EDUCATION: Graduate of Lakeview High School.
FAMILY: Wife, Sue; son, Brent.
PRIORITY: Continue working on government grants for the borough and being accessible to the borough both day and night.
JOHN KISH
AGE: 19.
HOME: 339 W. Market St.
EMPLOYMENT: Student at Youngstown State University.
EDUCATION: Graduate of Mercer High School.
FAMILY: Single.
PRIORITY: Reaching an agreement with the utility companies to stop the constant digging up of people's yards.
CHRISTOPHER D. PORTMAN
AGE: 18.
HOME: 227 W. Venango St.
EMPLOYMENT: Mercer High School senior; employed at the Polo Jeans Factory Outlet in Grove City.
EDUCATION: Will graduate from Mercer High School in June.
FAMILY: Single.
PRIORITY: To help bring Mercer into the 21st century; bring residential concerns to borough council; create a foundation in which money from an annual fund-raiser would be used to benefit the Mercer community.
