ROBERT L. SHANER, 74



KINSMAN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Baumgardner Funeral Home for Robert L. Shaner, 74, of 9409 Ward North Road N.E., who died Wednesday at St. Joseph Health Center.
Mr. Shaner was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Warren, a son of Scott E. and Lucy R. DeLancy Shaner. He lived in Trumbull County all his life.
He was a farmer for more than 50 years, raising pigs and cattle. He was also employed for more than 33 years as a locomotive engineer for Republic Steel, retiring in 1986. He earlier was a carpenter for Gibson Construction Co. in Warren.
He was a Navy veteran who served on the USS Silenus. He attended Stateline United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing the violin, guitar and piano, and hunting and fishing.
He leaves his wife, the former Lois D. Benton, whom he married April 10, 1947; two sons, Robert S. and James M., both of Kinsman; three daughters, Lois S. Singleton of Safety Harbor, Fla., Mary K. Melvin of Hubbard and Laura B. Shaner of Kinsman; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Laura Johansen and Dorothy Cook, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
