Concert, workshop set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kenny Eldridge of Youngstown and the Jesus Celebration Singers will perform in concert at 7 p.m. June 9 at Edward W. Powers Auditorium. The Body of Christ Mass Choir will also appear. For tickets, call (330) 744-0264 or (330) 744-1844.
Eldridge will be the clinician at a music and the arts workshop at Greater Friendship Baptist Church. There's a $10 fee. Registration begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a class at 7 p.m. on the ministry of music.
At 7 p.m. Friday, there will be a class on choir decorum. There is a breakfast at 9 a.m. April 28, followed by a class at 10 a.m. on effective leadership. Also on April 28, there will be a musical "Joy Night Celebration" at 6:45 p.m.
Heavenly music
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. James A.M.E. Church will have a musical program at 4 p.m. April 29 that will feature the Heavenly Singers from Akron and local groups.
Concert scheduled
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Lawrence County National Day of Prayer committee is sponsoring a "Concert of Prayer" on May 3. The program will be at 7 p.m. at Christian Assembly Church.
Special concert
NORTH LIMA -- The Perry Sisters will perform at 7:30 p.m. May 4 at North Lima Mennonite Church. The group has recorded 22 albums with over 25 hits. A spaghetti dinner will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. that day. Donations will be taken for the dinner and concert. Call (330) 549-2333.
YSU Gospel Choir
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State University Gospel Choir will perform at 7 p.m. May 19 at Heavenly Place Church of God in Christ. The choir's mime team and step team will also perform.
Special singer
YOUNGSTOWN -- Chris Rhoads of Grove City, Pa., will perform at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Mahoning United Methodist Church. Rhoads writes most of the music he performs.
Spring musical program
STRUTHERS -- Struthers Presbyterian Church will present "Come, Christians, Join to Sing!" at 7 p.m. May 6. The program will feature the choirs of Struthers Presbyterian and Struthers United Methodist churches along with musicians. An offering will be taken to benefit Grace Place Medical Services. Refreshments will follow.
32nd anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Third Baptist Church Inspirational Chorus will celebrate its 32nd anniversary concert at 4 p.m. April 29. The guests will be the Rev. Kenneth Simon, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church and New Bethel's The Instruments of Praise Choir.

School expands
GARRETTSVILLE -- Garrettsville Christian School is taking enrollment for classes in grades nine through 12 that will begin in September. The school previously offered preschool through grade eight. The high school also will offer the Robinson Curriculum Course of Study for the first time in this area, according to the school's principal, the Rev. Joseph E. Propri. Beginning in September, preschoolers through grade six will study using the traditional classroom method, and youths in grades seven and above will use the Robinson method. Call (330) 527-4095.
Feast event
NORTH JACKSON -- The National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon will observe the Feast of Our Lady of Lebanon on May 6. Events include: 1:45 p.m., Crowning of the Blessed Mother; 2 p.m., Pontifical Liturgy; 3 p.m., Rosary and Procession. Bishop Stephen Doueihi of the Eparchy of St. Maron in Brooklyn, N.Y., will take part. There will be a buffet at noon. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children under 12.
Language program
YOUNGSTOWN -- Santa Rosa de Lima is offering a series of spiritual conferences at 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays for adults and children who speak English and/or Spanish. Neo-Catechumenal Way will present a program to help people rediscover the power of baptism.
Water program
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen will present "Water: The Commonplace Miracle -- A Day of Mindfulness and Creative Expression" from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 5, at the Villa Maria Community Center. Rosary March
WARREN -- The Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima, Warren, Byzantine Chapter, will sponsor the 50th semi-annual Rosary March at 3 p.m. May 6 at Sts. Peter & amp; Paul Church.
Interfaith program
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. John's Episcopal Church will offer a series, "The New Interfaith World," from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Sundays May 6 to 20 that will examine the core of Eastern faiths.

YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Casimir's Church will have a healing Mass at 11 a.m. May 2. A light lunch will follow.
New service
AUSTINTOWN -- First Free Will Baptist Church will start an early worship service at 8:30 a.m. May 6 designed to be traditional yet vibrant. On Sundays, the church's adult and youth studies are at 9:45 a.m. and evening worship is at 7 p.m. Bible study is at 7 p.m. Wednesdays.
Compassion Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN -- Good Hope Lutheran Church will observe "Compassion Sunday" at 8:15, 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. April 29. A program will be presented on Compassion International, a non-denominational evangelical child-sponsorship program that ministers in 23 countries. Prayer group meets
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Sacred Heart Padre Pio Prayer group will meet at the Shrine of Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The program includes confession, prayers, and a noon Mass followed by a program.
