HIGH SCHOOLS Baseball, softball drawings set for tournaments



Sectional draws for both sports will be Tuesday.

Tournament seeding and drawing meetings for high school baseball and softball will be held Tuesday.
The meetings will determine locations and times for opening-round tournament games in Ohio.
Sectional tournament games will begin at 4:30 p.m. each day and will be played at the site of the visiting team on the bracket, unless the tournament manager determines that the field conditions require a change.
Baseball: In Division I baseball, district games will be played at Cene Park in Struthers.
Local teams participating in the Div. I tournament include Austintown Fitch, Boardman, Howland and Warren Harding.
In Divi. II, district and regional games will be played at Cene. Local teams are Cardinal Mooney, Canfield, Chaney, Hubbard, Lakeview, Liberty, Niles, Poland, Rayen, Salem, Struthers and Woodrow Wilson.
West Branch, Southeast, Louisville and Marlington are among other teams playing in the Louisville district, which will send one team to the Struthers (Cene) regional.
Division III: The sectional teams for Div. III are Columbiana, Crestview, Lisbon, East Palestine, Springfield and United.
After the opening games, the winners will advance to play at Springfield High, eventually send two teams to Cene for the district tournament.
Div. III sectional games also will be played at Warren Harding. Those games will include Brookfield, Champion, Girard, LaBrae, Campbell, Newton Falls and Ursuline, with two teams qualifying for district competition at Cene.
Competing in Div. IV, Jackson-Milton, Leetonia, Lowellville, Mineral Ridge, Southern and South Range will take the sectional path through Springfield High, eventually seeking a district berth at Cene (two teams).
Two Div. IV teams also will advance to Cene, coming from Warren Harding where Southington, Warren JFK, Lordstown, Mathews, McDonald and Windham will compete. Competing outside the area will be Sebring and Western Reserve, which much travel to Akron for tournament play.
Softball: Boardman's Community Softball Fields of Dreams will be the site for the Div. I district tournament.
The sectional games will involve Austintown Fitch, Boardman, Rayen, Kent Roosevelt and Warren Harding, with two teams advancing to the Boardman district.
In Div. II, Canfield, Cardinal Mooney, Chaney, Howland, Hubbard, Niles, Poland, Struthers and Woodrow Wilson will battle for three spots in the Hubbard district tournament.
Salem, Louisville, Marlington, Southeast and West Branch will be among seven other schools fighting for two spots in the Alliance district.
Smaller schools: In Div. III, Crestview, Columbiana, Lisbon, East Palestine, South Range, Springfield, and United will compete for two spots in the South Range district. Maplewood and Badger will compete with five other schools for two spots in the Orwell district.
At Lakeview High, Brookfield, Champion, Girard, Warren JFK, LaBrae, Liberty Campbell, Newton Falls and Ursuline fight for three district spots. Upper bracket winners advance to the Orwell district, with lower bracket winners head to South Range.
Div. IV features Columbiana, Jackson-Milton, Leetonia, Lowellville, Southern, and Western Reserve fighting for two district berths.
Bristol, Southington, Lordstown, Mathews, McDonald and Mineral Ridge are among the teams battling for three spots in the Lakeview district.
