CHESTER L. DIGIACOBBE, 77



WARREN -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Williams Catholic Church in Champion for Chester L. DiGiacobbe, 77, of 632 Champion St., who died Thursday at Ridgecrest Care Center.
Mr. DiGiacobbe, also known as Chilly, was born May 29, 1923, in Crabtree, Pa., a son of Vincent and Josephine Aurick DiGiacobbe, and moved to Champion in 1986 from California.
A 1943 Warren G. Harding High School graduate, he retired in 1985 from the Hughes Corp., Ventura, Calif., where he worked 10 years as a tool and die designer. He played AAA minor league baseball in South Carolina for the Pirates and also managed and played for various local hardball teams.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the church.
His wife, the former Bernadette Manofsky, whom he married Nov. 25, 1948, died April 30, 1993.
Among others, he leaves two brothers, Ernest R. of Warren and Emidio A. of Cortland.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Peter Rossi & amp; Son Memorial Chapel and one-half hour before services in the church.
