Working with no pact

Working with no pact
WARREN -- Seventy employees represented by American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 11 continued working today at the Trumbull County Engineer's Office without a contract.
The contract expired Thursday. Negotiations are stuck on economic issues, said Rocky Riviella, the engineer's controller and administrator.
After working on a three-year contract since January, the sides have agreed to undergo nonbinding arbitration, he said.
Jobs range from janitor and laborer to engineering technician.
Suing disbarred lawyer
WARREN -- A McDonald couple filed a lawsuit Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court alleging legal malpractice against disbarred attorney Richard Goldberg.
Anita and Terry Bixler, Grant Avenue, contend that from June 23, 1997, through April 18, 2000, Goldberg represented Terry Bixler. The suit states that Goldberg was negligent in that representation and that he "breached the confidentiality and privilege of the attorney/client relationship."
The Bixlers are seeking more than $25,000. The suit does not state why Goldberg was representing Bixler or how Goldberg was negligent.
Atty. Christopher L. Parker, of Akron, who filed the lawsuit, could not be reached.
Goldberg is serving a 41-month federal prison sentence after pleading guilty in 1999 to several counts of federal mail fraud and one count of bank fraud.
