Federal Iron Man eventset at Lawrence club
The Lawrence County Sportsmans Association will host the spring edition of the semi-annual Federal Iron Man Shoot April 29 at the club's Harbor Road shooting range.
Sponsored by the Federal Cartridge Co., the shotgun event is a non-registered, all-day fun shoot. Shooters of all ages and abilities are invited to try their luck at skeet, trap, sporting clays and 5-stand stations. Cost is $55 per person (lunch included) with pay-outs ranging from $150 for high overall to $50 for winners of each of the four shotgun disciplines.
The range is located three miles west of New Castle, Pa., just off state Route 422 on Harbor Road. For more information or to register call (724) 652-1075.
Mahoning ValleyTrap League slate
The Mahoning Valley Trap League has set its schedule of shoots for the 2001 season.
MVTL competition, always on Monday afternoon, will commence on April 30 with shooters converging on Columbiana Fish & amp; Game Club. Following will be shoots at: Fish & amp; Game Club of Vienna, May 7; Lowellville Rod & amp; Gun Club, May 14; Mahoning Sportsmans Club, May 21; New Middletown Farmers and Sportsmans Club, June 4; Eastern Ohio Conservation Club, June 11; Columbiana, June 18; Vienna, June 25; Lowellville, July 2; Mahoning, July 9; New Middletown, July 16; E.O.C.C., July 23; Columbiana, July 30; Vienna, Aug. 6; Lowellville, Aug. 20; Mahoning, Aug. 27; New Middletown, Sept. 10; E.O.C.C., Sept. 17; Rain date (or shoot-off if not used for rain date), Sept. 24; Shoot-off, Lowellville Rod 7 Gun Club, Oct. 1.
FISHING
Local angler 6th
Local walleye pro Bob Adler of Niles finished 6th last weekend at the first Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Circuit Tournament at Port Clinton on Lake Erie. The tournament is run by Operation Walleye and named after retail giant Wal-Mart and boat manufacturers Ranger, Crestliner and Lund, hence the R.C.L. designation.
Adler was paired with amateur Dave Kerzee for the April 11-14 contest. The pair ended up in sixth place with Adler getting a check for $10,000 and Kerzee receiving $4,000. Adler is the regional pro staffer for Crestliner boats and a member of the Trade Winds fishing team.
Adler's next stop on the R.C.L. will be the Mississippi River at La Crosse, Wis., May 9-12, followed by Saginaw Bay and Devils Lake in North Dakota.
Adler is sponsored by Crestliner boats, Mercury Outboards, Trade Winds Marine, Zercom Electronics, Reef Runner Lures, Jenson, and Rays Custom Tackle.
Tourney winner
Winner for the April 7 Ohio Valley Bass Anglers tournament held at the Ohio River Montgomery Pool was & quot;J & quot; Donlon of Salem. He also took big bass prize.

Canoe trips to start
Trumbull Canoe Trails Inc. will begin its 2001 season April 29 with a trip on the Shenango River.
