POLAND Browsing through tour of new library
Silhouetted against the windows facing Yellow Creek, architect James Yoder, left, talks about the new Poland library with Richard L. Calvin and Kathy Bennett, members of the board of trustees of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. The trustees toured the facility Thursday. Yoder is one of three architects from 4M Company who worked on the project. Carlton A. Sears, director of the library system, said the project is within its budget and on schedule and should be ready around the end of August or early September -- about 14 months since it began. A $400,000 grant from the Recycling Division of Mahoning County helped offset the cost of using recycled materials on the $4.7 million project. The design was developed to enhance the unique characteristics along Yellow Creek, according to another of the architects, Robert Mastriana. The third architect on the project was Paul Mastriana.
