SISTER GESUMINA GAMBONE, 82 Taught in Ellwood City, Pa., and Salem



VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Villa Maria Chapel for Sister Gesumina Gambone, H.M., 82, who died Wednesday at Villa Maria Community Center.
Sister Gambone was born June 7, 1918, in Canton, a daughter of John and Raphaela Giallanella Gambone, and was known as Sister Consuela.
She entered the order of the Humility of Mary in 1939. She professed her first vows in 1941 and her final vows in 1944. She graduated from high school in 1936 from Mount Marie Academy, Canton, and received her B.S.E. degree from Mount Mercy College in 1960.
Among her duties in the Youngstown Diocese, she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at Mount Carmel, Ashtabula, from 1942 to 1955 and was a teacher there from 1955 to 1956; she was a teacher at St. Paul, Salem, from 1956 to 1957.
Beginning in 1958, she joined the Pittsburgh Diocese. She was a teacher at St. Agatha, Ellwood City, Pa., from 1965 to 1969. She worked in community services at Villa Maria Community Center, 1970-77.
She also was a postal clerk at the Villa Maria Post Office, 1977-92, and at the same time, worked as a part-time secretary at the community center. She also was a secretary there from 1992 to 1994. She was a minister at the community center from 1994 to 2001.
She leaves her sisters in the Humility of Mary congregation; and two brothers, Dominic and Anthony, both of Canton.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Villa Maria Chapel.
