PIANO WEEK
Schedule of events
All events will be in YSU's Bliss Hall Ford Theater, unless otherwise noted. Admission is free.
Inauguration concert, featuring Rachel Bubar performing works by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt and Poulenc, 7 p.m. Sunday. This recital is in partial fulfillment of the requirements of a master of music degree.
James Wilding, playing works by Beethoven and Liszt as well as his own compositions, 8 p.m. Monday.
Piano students of YSU's Dana School of Music, 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Guest pianist Richard Syracuse of Ohio University in Athens, 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Institute of American Art. Syracuse earned bachelor and masters degrees at Juilliard School of Music and has won many awards, including the Queen Elizabeth of Belgium competition.
Richard Syracuse master class, 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Rachel May, playing works by Johannes Brahms and Frederic Chopin, 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Final concert, 8 p.m. April 27. Bartok's "Sonata for two Pianos and Percussion" will be performed by Dana student pianists Sophia Grobler and Pierre van der Westhuizen and percussionists Craig Yarger and Ron Coulter. Dana Wind Ensemble with director Stephen Gage will perform the world premiere of James Wilding's "Greek Goddesses" with pianist Caroline Oltmanns.
