Art auction
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City Woman's Club will have an art auction Saturday at the Grove City Country Club. Admission is $8; viewing begins at 6 p.m. and the auction starts at 7. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are available from any club member or at the Grove City Chamber of Commerce office. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Grove City Library, Grove City Schools Caring Program, Grove City Food Pantry, Grove City Meals on Wheels, Grove City Flower Boxes, Alternatives for Women/Advocacy, Resources and Education and the Grove City High School Award.
Shafer recital Saturday
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Susan Shafer's recital has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Orr Auditorium at Westminster College. The free public performance will feature a variety of works, from Shakespeare and Verdi to cabaret songs. Dr. Russell Miller, co-chair of the Cleveland Institute of Music's collaborative piano and chamber music department, will accompany Shafer on piano. Dr. Frederick Horn, a Shakespearean scholar at Westminster, will narrate the first three sections. No tickets are needed for the performance.
Sha Na Na visit
SHARON, Pa. -- The rock and roll group Sha Na Na will visit the Vocal Group Hall of Fame & amp; Museum from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Visitors to the hall will get the opportunity to meet the group members and get autographs. The group formed in 1969 at Columbia University, performing acappella versions of 1950s oldies, and went international after its appearance at the Woodstock music festival. Sha Na Na released two platinum and three gold albums, starred in its own television series and appeared in the movie "Grease." The Vocal Group Hall of Fame will offer a special admission rate of $5 per person during the group's visit. The group is in town to perform at Sharon Regional Health System's Charity Ball at Tiffany's Banquet Center in Brookfield Saturday night.
