EMOGENE C. BYTHEWAY, 84



BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home for Emogene C. Bytheway, 84, of 161 Oakley Ave., who died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter in Poland.
Mrs. Bytheway was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Salina, Pa., a daughter of Orville J. and Alana Haugh Cochran, and came to the Youngstown area in 1981. She was a legal secretary for Family and Child Services of Pittsburgh, Federal Laboratories of Saltsburg, Pa., and earlier was the secretary to the commanding officer of Fort Ord Army base in California.
She graduated from Saltsburg High School in 1934 and the Duff's Business College in Pittsburgh in 1937. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and its Tri Gamma Society and XYZ Seniors Group. She also was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star.
Her husband, John E. Sr., whom she married Aug. 1, 1942, died Jan. 5, 2001.
She leaves two daughters, Betty A. Sandrock of Poland and Margaret A. Yurkovich of Shorewood, Ill.; a son, John E. Jr. of Leominster, Mass.; and three grandchildren. A sister, Ruth Buchholz, is deceased.
