EDWARD W. SZYMCZYK, 67
SALEM -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul Catholic Church for Edward W. Szymczyk, 67, of 607 Aetna St., who died Tuesday evening in Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Szymczyk, also known as "Ink," was born July 15, 1933, in Berlin Center, a son of Charles and Antonia Pointek Szymczyk. He served in the Army from 1954-56 as an infantryman in Alaska. He was employed by Zimmerman Auto and Loudon Ford. He later was a maintenance man for 10 years with the Salem Public Schools, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the church, the Salem Amvets and Independent Hose Club of Salem.
He leaves a son, Matthew of Salem; a daughter, Michele Lancaster of New Albany, Ohio; two sisters, Genevieve Sims of Salem and Sophia Kireta of Millport; a brother, John of Salem; and a granddaughter.
Four sisters, Anna Kostreva, Nellie Sims, Verna Karmazin and Philomena Szymczyk, and two brothers, Carl Simnick and Max Szymczyk, are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stark Memorial.
Military graveside services will be conducted in Hope Cemetery by the Salem Amvets and VFW.
