Columbiana Co. Drug Task Force resumes duties after shutdown

LISBON -- With an investigation still continuing into the theft of money from its office, the Columbiana County Drug Task Force is resuming operations.
The agency was shut down by its controlling board in mid-March after task force director Eric Boggs reported the missing money.
Task-force duties are resuming today because the state Bureau of Identification and Investigation has concluded its on-site probe into the theft, explained county Prosecutor Robert Herron.
BCI agents conducted an inventory and audit at the task force office in Center Township. Now that those procedures have concluded, the investigation can continue off-site, Herron said.
He reiterated Wednesday his belief that criminal charges will be filed within a month against the suspect in the crime.
Authorities have repeatedly refused to say how much money was taken and whether the suspect in the crime is a task force member.
The task force consists of officers assigned from police departments in East Liverpool, Columbiana, East Palestine, Washingtonville, Lisbon and Salineville.
