WALTER A. JONES, 77



BOARDMAN -- Services were at 11 a.m. today at Davis Funeral Home for Walter A. Jones, 77, of 776 Wildwood Drive, who died Monday morning at home.
Mr. Jones was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Youngstown, a son of Thomas H. and Jessie G. Jenkins Jones, and lived here all his life.
He graduated in 1944 from South High School and retired as a general foreman from U.S. Steel Ohio Works, where he worked 34 years. He was a member of Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Austintown, where he served on the building committee and with its King Kids. He also was a member of the Boy Scouts, the YMCA of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Industrial Management Association. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He leaves his wife, the former Joy A. Fowler, whom he married May 13, 1944; three sons, Thomas R. of Chesterland, Ohio, Kenneth of Baytown, Texas, and David of Leetonia; two daughters, Doreen Justice of Detroit, Mich., and Linda Terrell of Girard; a brother, Sidney of Boardman; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A grandchild is deceased.
