PERRY A. VENTRESCO, 85 Owned Tel-Star Restaurant and Lounge
BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Rossi Bros. Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Lowellville, for Perry A. Ventresco Sr., 85, of 841 Westport Drive, who died Monday night in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.
Mr. Ventresco was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Bugnara, Italy, a son of Christy and Julia DeSantes Ventresco, coming to this country at age 3.
He was a master mechanic superintendent at Sharon Steel Corp. from 1944 to 1960, and worked for International Mill Services from 1960 until his retirement in 1980. He was part owner of Tel-Star Restaurant and Lounge from 1969 to 1989.
A 1934 graduate of Lowellville High School, where he played football, he was a member of St. Christine Church, Youngstown, and spearheaded the building of the new Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville with Father William Witt in the 1960s. He also was instrumental in the renovation of the church toll bell in 1950. He was an airplane pilot.
Besides his wife, the former Blanche Santangelo, whom he married May 8, 1943, he leaves four sons, Perry A. Jr. and Joseph M. Sr., both of Boardman, Thomas V. Sr. of North Lima and Gerald P. of Austintown; a daughter, Julia M. Craig of Howland; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Merick, Donald and James Sr.; a sister, Fanny Ventresco; and a grandson, are deceased.
