New form eases zoning law requests
MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Township trustees approved a new form Tuesday for making recommendations for changes in zoning laws.
The form can be used by property owners or renters in the township, township trustees or any member of the zoning commission.
The issue passed by unanimous vote after being approved by the township's planning and zoning commission in March. Trustee Fred Bobovnyk noted that the Trumbull County Planning Commission also approved the proposed amendment.
David Pugh, township administrator and head zoning inspector, explained to Trustee George Bucella that any township resident can ask for a change, because the form provides a way to request a change in the actual text of township zoning law. Bucella had questioned whether a renter could ask for a change in zoning law without the agreement of the property owner.
Once a form requesting a change in zoning law is received, the request must also be reviewed by the zoning commission, and, if approved there, must also be approved by trustees.
