MEN'S BASKETBALL YSU gets recruit from Steubenville

Coach John Robic hopes Brian Radakovich can strengthen the post.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State University men's basketball team added its fifth and final recruit Tuesday with the signing of Brian Radakovich of Steubenville High School.
Radakovich, a 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward, was a two-year starter and three-year letterwinner for the Big Red. For his senior season he averaged 20.1 points, 12.4 rebounds and four blocked shots as Steubenville posted a 17-7 record and was the district runnerup.
Comparison: "Brian is a very skilled player who has a lot of similarities to our Stephen Flores," said YSU head coach John Robic. "He has the potential to give us a better presence in the post. He has a big upside with the opportunity to grow."
Radakovich earned first team honors in the All-Eastern District and was first team All-District V and first team All-OVAC. He was named captain of the OVAC squad.
He has played in the OVAC All-Star Classic and also in the Ohio-Michigan All-Star game.
"Brian is excited to be in our program," added Robic. "He fills a position where we need added depth. We are also very excited to have a local player involved in our program."
Radakovich, who was also a two-year starter at tight end for the Steubenville High football team, is the second player signed by the Penguins during this signing period.
New Penguins: YSU signed Doug Underwood, a 6-2 guard from Meade High School in Annapolis, Md., on national signing day. The Penguins also signed three recruits last fall during the early signing period.
They included 6-8 junior college transfer Sean Johnson from Allegheny Community College, 6-5 forward Jimmy Moore from Wochester, Mass., and 6-5 forward Kenneth Lampley of Gary, Ind.
