MAHONING COUNTY
Creek Day at Poland Woods, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Poland Woods. Activities include a stream cleanup, games for pupils in kindergarten through third grade, an archaeological excavation, a walk with a naturalist, face-painting and storytelling. A volunteer stream-monitoring training program will require an $8 fee and preregistration. Refreshments.
Mahoning River Consortium cleanup, 9 a.m. Saturday. Meet at Poland Presbyterian Church. Videos of the Mahoning River, as well as stream cleanup and conservation, will be shown. Volunteers should bring boots. To preregister, call (330) 746-7601 and ask for Kim.
The YSU Environmental Studies Society's Earth Day festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in YSU's Kilcawley Center and throughout the campus. Entertainment will include poetry readings, music, theater and art. Featured will be an informational bus from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other displays. COLUMBIANA COUNTY
"Celebrate Summer in Columbiana County," 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Commercial Building at the Columbiana County Fairgrounds. Information about rabies and the West Nile virus will be on hand. There will be a "pond clinic," as well as information on how to enjoy and protect backyard habitats and streams. Live llamas will be featured. Displays and other activities will be available for children. Vendors.

Niles target cleanup, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Meet in the Niles High School parking lot. Trash bags will be available. Free tree seedlings go to the first 100 volunteers; a free Earth Day T-shirt goes to the first 50 people.
Newton Falls cleanup, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Meet at the city building, North Canal Street.
Mosquito Lake State Park cleanup, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Meet at park office.

Munnell Run Farm Earth Day celebration, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Mercer County Conservation District, 747 Greenville Road, Mercer.
