WARREN Candlelight vigil planned Monday for victims rights
WARREN -- A candlelight vigil and a luncheon next week will commemorate Victims Rights Week.
Miriam Fife, a victims-witness advocate with the Trumbull County prosecutor's office, said she is hoping for a large turnout.
"We would really like a lot of citizens to come out and show the victims and their family members that they support them," Fife said. "It means a lot to a victim to know that people care."
A candlelight vigil will be at 7 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave. Prosecutor Dennis Watkins will speak. The vigil is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Lunch scheduled: At noon April 27, a lunch will be served the church. State Rep. Ann Womer Benjamin, R-75th, chairperson of the House criminal justice committee, will speak.
Reservations may be made by calling (330) 675-2552 or (330) 394-3523 before Monday.
A memorial flag will be flown April 27 to mark National Children's Memorial Day, Fife said. It will be flown in front of the sheriff's office and other law enforcement offices throughout the county.
"The flag is flown to remember all the children who have died in Trumbull County due to violence," Fife said.
