VIRGINIA E. MURPHY, 86

YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home in Austintown, and at 11 a.m. in St. Christine Church, for Virginia E. Murphy, 86, of 3301 S. Wendover Circle, who died this morning in Specialty Hospital Mahoning Valley.
Mrs. Murphy was born Sept. 6, 1914, in Hubbard, a daughter of David F. and Iva Gamble Jackson. She moved to California in 1951 and back to this area in 1989.
She had worked at Thorton Laundry in Youngstown as a clothing marker for 20 years. She was a member of the church here and the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus in Anaheim, Calif.
Her husband, John J., whom she married May 28, 1931, died Nov. 10. 1988.
She leaves a daughter, Elizabeth L. Polish, with whom she made her home; a half sister, Jo-Ann Rider of Mineral Ridge; a brother, Robert T. of Newberry Springs, Calif.; and a grandchild.
A grandchild is deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the church building fund.
