MARION C. STEADMAN, 89 Taught at Immaculate Conception
YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at McVean & amp; Hughes Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church for Marion C. Steadman, 89, of 1420 S. Canfield-Niles Road, formerly of North Bruce Street, who died late Saturday at Clare Bridge Cottage of Austintown.
Miss Steadman was born Aug. 2, 1911, in Youngstown, a daughter of John B. and Mary A. Coyne Steadman, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a 1928 graduate of Ursuline High School and attended Ursuline College, Cleveland, where she received her teaching certificate in 1931. She was a second-grade teacher for 53 years at Immaculate Conception School before retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of Daughters of the Eucharist.
She also was a member of the Ursuline Century II and Catholic Daughters of America, and in 1980 was honored by Youngstown Mayor George Vukovich with a "Marion Steadman Day" in recognition of her 50 years in teaching.
Among others, she leaves a sister, Eileen Kerrigan of Boardman.
A brother, John B. Steadman, and two sisters, Kathryn Hughes and Ruth Brahler, are deceased.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
