DOUGLAS GILLAM SR., 55



YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church for Douglas Gillam Sr., 55, of 14 Staton Drive, Upper Marlboro, Md., formerly of Youngstown, who died of cancer Friday at his home.
Mr. Gillam was born Nov. 7, 1945, in Albany, Ga., a son of Rufus and Vallie Edmondson Gillam.
He moved to this area in 1946, graduated in 1963 from North High School, and attended Youngstown State University.
He was a corporate retail manager for various retail stores, including Woolworth's in Youngstown, Montgomery Ward in Chicago, Ames and Burlington Coat Factory in Maryland for 33 years, retiring in 1998. He received awards for outstanding performance from Ames and Burlington in Maryland.
He attended Seabrook Seven-day Adventist Church in Greenbelt, Md., was affiliated with Teen Challenge Automobile Ministry, and was a seminar and motivational speaker at several universities.
Besides his wife, the former Brenda Boudreaux, he leaves a daughter, LaChelle Gillam of Maryland; two sons, Douglas Gillam Jr. of Maryland and Chandler Gillam Boudreaux at home; three brothers, Homer Jenkins and Artis Gillam Sr., both of Youngstown, and L.V. Jenkins of Rochester, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
