NEW YORK -- Shirley Jones is traveling around the country with a new Hollywood fashion exhibit but she found out that traveling and fashion aren't always a perfect combination.
Jones, the star of movie musicals like "Oklahoma!" and "The Music Man," was recently in New York for a preview of American Movie Classic's "Fashion In Film-On Tour." The tour will bring re-created movie costumes to malls in 12 cities.
The replica of Grace Kelly's black-and-white dress from "Rear Window" made it to the kickoff event, and so did the dead-on re-creation of Jones' rust-colored gown from "The Music Man."
Jones' luggage with her own clothes did not.
"I traveled in this outfit, slept in this outfit and you're getting me in this outfit," said the actress, wearing a casual blue jacket and pants. The airline lost her bag with the dressy navy suit she had planned to wear.
"Fashion In Film" began in Boston. During the tour Jones will share untold stories behind the costumes and examine their influence on the fashion world.
Costumes from "It Happened One Night," "The King & amp; I" and "How To Marry A Millionaire" are also featured, as are real Oscar gowns worn by Janet Leigh, Kristin Scott Thomas and Kate Winslet.
