Local forum addresses abuse of the elderly
YOUNGSTOWN -- A forum called "Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of the Elderly: Symptoms, Resources and Services" will be April 24 at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave.
Local social-service agencies, law-enforcement agencies, medical personnel, the clergy and public officials are invited to attend the free session, which begins at 8 a.m.
Reservations must be made by calling (330) 743-9275 by Friday.
Presentations: Judge Timothy Maloney of Mahoning County Probate Court is the keynote speaker.
Other presenters are Kris Shipmon of the Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services, Adult Protective Services; John Saultis, Area Agency on Aging; Goldie McCall, Family Service Agency Guardianship Program; Suzanne Tucci, Visiting Nurses Association of Youngstown; Detective Sgt. Delphine Baldwin-Casey, Youngstown Police Department Crisis Intervention Unit; Jackie Floyd, Catholic Community Services senior support program; Patricia Reardon, Volunteer Service to Seniors; and Cathy Grizinski, Help Hotline Senior Line.
The event is sponsored by Sojourner House Battered Persons Crisis Program and MCDJFS.
Three continuing-education units will be granted to Ohio licensed counselors and social workers.
