YOUNGSTOWN -- Old telephone books will be collected by the city's division of litter control and recycling Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of Key Bank on Federal Plaza downtown.
The department's first magazine collection of the year will be April 25 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Northside Pool at Belmont Avenue and Tod Lane.
Fair-housing speaker
YOUNGSTOWN -- A nationally known civil rights lawyer will be part of the city's Fair Housing Fair next week.
The event's theme is "fair housing is the law."
The fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 24 at the Steel Museum and feature guest speaker Avery Friedman.
Friedman, who has taught at nearly two dozen law schools, is chief counsel for the Fair Housing Council, a public interest group. He has taken roughly 2,000 federal civil rights cases to court, recovering $30 million for discrimination victims.
Italian festival planned
