EARTH WEEK Thiel College
Thiel College will have a series of events for students and the public to mark Earth Week:
Tuesday: 9 a.m., opening ceremony in Passavant Center.
Tuesday morning: Passavant Center workshops for regional grade-school students: The Wonder of Water, Discover Lake Erie, Life in the Shenango River Watershed, Wetlands and Ocean's Away are some of the topics.
Wednesday: 7 p.m., Howard Miller Student Center: Dr. Peter G Brown, director of the McGill School of Environment At McGill University in Montreal, will speak on "Stewardship Economics: Fitting the Economy into the Biosphere."
Thursday: 7 p.m., Miller Student Center: Dr. Phil Hefner, professor of systematic theology at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, will speak on "Making Nature Friendly: The Ongoing Challenge."
Thursday: 8:30 p.m., local musicians perform at the Rainforest Canopy Coffeehouse in Miller Student Center.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to noon, Shenango Valley River Waters will lead volunteers in cleaning litter from the banks of the Little Shenango River. The group will meet at the Academic Center at 10 a.m.
April 24: 7:30 p.m., Miller Student Center: Dr. Sandra Steingraber, ecologist, poet and cancer survivor, will speak on "Cancer and Its Environmental Links."
