CANFIELD -- The American Cancer Society's Mahoning Valley Area Office is offering several free programs.
*A "Let's Talk About It" prostate cancer detection training and outreach program for black men is at 5 p.m. April 24 at the Alliance Community Outreach Center in Warren. The program is also sponsored by the 100 Black Men of America. Prostate cancer is about twice as common in black men as white men, according to the society. Register by Tuesday by calling (888) 227-6446.
*"Look Good ... Feel Better" programs will be offered at 2 p.m. April 23 at East Liverpool City Hospital in East Liverpool, and at 6 p.m. April 30 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital's Community Cancer Information Center at the Eastwood Mall in Niles. The program helps women undergoing radiation or chemotherapy improve their appearance. Call to register at the above number.
*"Reach to Recovery Volunteer Training" for breast cancer survivors will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at the society office in Canfield. The survivors will be trained to help new breast cancer patients.
*"Tell-A-Friend" training is at 10 a.m. April 28 at Holy Family Church in Poland. Women are trained to urge others to get an annual mammogram.
Organic program
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- EverGreen and Villa Maria Sister Services will be hosts of "Quality Ingredients: Organic Produce" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Villa Maria Community Center as part of the Complementary Health Series. Street drug program
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic and Mahoning County Chemical Dependency Programs Inc. will present "Update on Street Drugs" from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridayat Mount Carmel Social Hall. The cost is $55, and continuing education credit is available. Call (330) 743-6671.
Free lecture
YOUNGSTOWN -- A lecture, "Incontinence and Pelvic Pain," at 5 p.m. April 26 at St. Elizabeth Health Center will include discussion of treatment with therapy and biofeedback. Call (330) 480-3010.

Spring seminar
NILES -- The Tri-County Chapter of Medical Assistants will have a spring seminar April 28 at The Training Center at Brittany Place. Topics include immunology, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, autism and orthotic and prosthetic devices. Continuing education hours are available. Fees depend on the number of courses. Health expo
LIBERTY -- Health Choices Network will have its fifth expo, "Healthy People, Healthy Earth," at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 28, followed by a drum circle from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 29. The cost is $5 a day or $8 for the weekend. There will be almost 30 free lectures, 50 exhibitors and a number of demonstrations.

* Blood pressure and stress tests from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 24 at Ames in the Austintown Plaza.

* Bone density screenings from 2 to 3 p.m. April 25 at Sterling House, Salem.
* Health fairs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26 at Community Skilled Care Center, Warren, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at St. Christine Church, Youngstown.
* A free transplant seminar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 28 at St. Elizabeth Health Center. Continuing education hours are available. Registration is required.

Hypnosis sessions
YOUNGSTOWN -- The American Lung Association of Ohio Northeastern Branch is offering hypnosis sessions for weight loss or smoking cessation. A $50 fee includes the initial group session, an audio cassette for home use and a year of reinforcement at any association session.
A weight session will be at 12:30 p.m. May 6, followed by a quit-smoking session at 1:45 p.m. Both are at the Jewish Community Center. Reservations are recommended by calling (330) 792-1215.
Co-dependents sessions
