Accident injures man
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A Lowellville man was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after being thrown from his motorcycle and then hit by a car.

Pennsylvania State Police gave this account: Alfano was riding his motorcycle on U.S. Route 224 near Fording Road in Union Township about 11 a.m. A car in front of him stopped to turn left. The motorcycle hit the car and Alfano, who was wearing a helmet, rolled off the bike onto the berm.
A car behind him steered into the berm to avoid the wrecked vehicles and hit the motorcyclist. Alfano was trapped under the car and pulled out by township firefighters.
