Practice runs for soap box derby set

WASHINGTONVILLE -- Practice runs for the seventh annual Super Kids Classic soap box derby will be at noon April 22 at the Washingtonville VFW York Drexler Post.
The Super Kids Classic will be at noon June 16 in Firestone Park, Columbiana. The VFW and the Vietnam Veterans of America Columbiana County Chapter 40 will sponsor the event for mentally and physically challenged children ages 9 through 16.
Vietnam veterans groups across the United States have been strong supporters of the national event since its inception in 1981, local veterans say.
The county VVA chapter has participated in the Super Kids Classic since 1986.
The Super Kids Classic includes soap box derby races and a banquet for all participants. The banquet will be at the Washingtonville VFW sometime in July.
The event is funded by the veterans groups, civic organizations, local businesses and individuals.
