Mothers of Twins chapter honors member at banquet



The group will serve as host for the state convention in June.
BOARDMAN -- The Youngstown Mothers of Twins Club held its annual Mother of the Year banquet March 17 at the Holiday Inn.
Gloria Brittain Wilkin of 87 Hawthorne St., Struthers, was named this year's Mother of the Year.
A member of the club for 10 years, Wilkin is the mother of fraternal twin sons, Aiden and Ben, who are 11. She serves as president of the organization and has served as its treasurer, recording secretary and chairman of the hostess and social committees. She has been co-editor of the club's newsletter, "The Twindicator," for four years and also has worked on the program and ways and means committees.
Since 1988 Wilkin has been a Court Appointed Special Advocate, which has involved advocating in the best interests of children who come into the juvenile justice system because of abuse, neglect or custodial issues, serving as a mentor and editing the organization's newsletter.
She is employed part time in the billing department of the offices of Dr. Benjamin Hayek.
Upcoming: She will represent the chapter at the annual Ohio Federation Mothers of Twins Convention to be held at the Holiday Inn June 29-30 with the local chapter as host. She will compete for the 2001 State Mother of the Year title.
The club is a support and service organization for mothers of multiples and meets the second Wednesday of each month at Davidson Becker Family Center in Struthers. For information call (330) 793-1425.
