MARY ANNE LADIGO, 56 Supervised oncology nursing at St. E's



AUSTINTOWN -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown, for Mary Anne Ladigo, 56, of 604 Wyndclift Circle, who died of Lou Gehrig's disease Tuesday at home.
Mrs. Ladigo was born Sept. 19, 1944, in Scranton, Pa., a daughter of John and Mary Gavin Carroll.
She was a registered nurse and supervisor of nursing in the oncology department of St. Elizabeth Health Center, where she also was director of oncology nursing before becoming the hospital's patient advocate. She retired in April 2000 after working for 35 years.
During her career, she held several positions with the Humility of Mary Health Partners, including membership on the board of directors of St. Elizabeth Health Center, assistant instructor of nursing at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and health ministries assistant. She was nominated for the Athena Award.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Fairview Heights Garden Club, Leadership Youngstown, Children's Health Coalition, Mahoning Shenango Health Education Networks, American College of Health Care Executives, Parish Nurse National Interest Group, Oncology Nursing Society, Hospice of Youngstown and American Cancer Society, of which she was president for two years.
She graduated in 1965 from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and also from Youngstown State University.
Besides her mother of Louisville, Ky., she leaves her husband, Gary L., whom she married Aug. 16, 1969; and a brother, James Carroll of Louisville, Ky.
A brother, Jack Carroll, is deceased.
