DALE M. REX, 70

WARREN -- Private graveside services will be Friday for Dale M. Rex, 70, of Rootstown, formerly of Warren, who died Wednesday in Akron General Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Rex was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Warren, a son of Ray and Elizabeth Parsons Rex. He had lived in Orwell before moving to Portage County in 1957. He was an Ohio State Highway patrolman in Portage County, worked for Nationwide Insurance and retired from the Ohio Casualty Insurance Co. in 1992.
He was a member of Ravenna Elks Club, Hot Stove Baseball League and served on the Rootstown Board of Education. He also served in the Coast Guard.
He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Goshorn, to whom he was married 49 years; three sons, Eugene of Ravenna, Ronald of Akron and William of Austintown; a sister, Marsha Shipman of Janesville, Iowa; and four grandchildren.
A brother, Donald, is deceased.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Wood-Kortright Funeral Home in Ravenna.
Contributions may be made to Mahoning County Public Special Olympics and the Rootstown Fire Department.
