AMISH BUGGIES Safety suggestions

Here are ways for motorists and Amish buggy drivers to avoid trouble:
BUGGIES
Use white, silver, red or orange reflective tape, stretched from corner to corner of the top back of the buggy and strategically placed down the sides.
Use a Slow Moving Vehicle (SMV) sign on the rear of the buggy.
Install two tail lights four inches across that can blink for turning and/or two amber flashing lights above the rear axle that can be seen from both the front and back and that can blink for up to a half-hour after sunset.
MOTORISTS
Learn to recognize the Slow Moving Vehicle sign.
Slow when passing buggies to avoid frightening the horse.
Remember that rural streets are not the same as city streets and are at times not as wide and have loose gravel berms and ditches.
Keep enough space between the motor vehicle and the buggy.
