Unit to help in search for superintendent

TRANSFER, Pa. -- The Reynolds School Board will use the services of Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV in its search for a new superintendent.
Ralph Jones, board president, said the Intermediate unit doesn't charge for the service and will conduct a statewide search for the district.
Dr. Charles M. Cagno, Reynolds superintendent since July 1999, chose not to complete his four-year contract and submitted his retirement resignation to the school board in March. It is effective June 30.
Jones said the school district used the services of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association in its last superintendent search, but decided Tuesday to try the Intermediate Unit this time.
Each school director will prepare a list of factors he or she believes is important in the selection of a superintendent and the Intermediate Unit will rate candidates for the job based on those criteria.
Jones said the school board will have the opportunity to review all applications for the post.
The plan is to have someone on board by June 30, he said.
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV is a quasi-state agency that provides educational services to public school districts in Mercer, Lawrence and Butler counties.
