RITA L. HUGHES, 81



SHARON, Pa. -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home for Rita L. Hughes, 81, of 343 Spruce Ave., who died Monday afternoon in Sharon Regional Health System hospital.
Mrs. Hughes was born April 23, 1919, in Sharon, a son of Edward A. and Emma M. Burkhardt Walsh, and was as lifelong area resident.
She was a homemaker and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church where she was a money counter and cook. She also was a member of the Tuesday Morning Early Bird Bowling League at Thornton Hall Lanes.
Her husband, Robert E., whom she married Sept. 21, 1940, died June 10, 1988.
She leaves three daughters, Emma Jean Burke of Sharon, Rita M. Fry of Jamestown, and Mary Jo Corsale of Austintown; two sons, Robert E. Jr. of Hermitage and James P. of Sharon; a sister, Mary Hacker of Masury; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A sister, Helen Rodgers; and four brothers, Neil, Edward, Paul and Father Kevin Walsh, are deceased.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the Ladies of Charity will recite the rosary at 3:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to the church development fund, 370 Spruce St., Sharon 16146, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
