KENNETH E. HOOPES, 72



SALEM -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Southeast Friends Church for Kenneth E. Hoopes, 72, of 1327 Jefferson, who died, apparently of a heart attack, Tuesday morning in the emergency room of Salem Community Hospital.
Mr. Hoopes was born April 15, 1928, in Damascus, a son of Clarence and Vera Ladd Hoopes.
He was an enameler for Eljer Co. in Salem for 25 years, and was an Army veteran.
He was a member of the church and its Believer's Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Salem Senior Citizens, Salem Retired Workers and Eljer Retirees.
His first wife, the former Nellie L. Lottman, whom he married Oct. 30, 1948, died June 21, 1973.
Besides his second wife, the former Betty Crew Bowman, whom he married April 7, 1984, he leaves two sons, Terry and Ted, both of Salem; two stepdaughters, Nancy Sines of Damascus and Barbara Bowman of Salem; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Three brothers, Lea, Donald and Glen, are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home and one hour before the service Friday in the church. Contributions may be made to Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., Salem 44460.
